I understand that for some people, it can feel quite daunting to open up about diet and lifestyle habits to someone you don’t know. I hope that by telling you a little about myself and how I work it will help you feel more at ease and give you some idea of what to expect from a consultation.
From as far back as I can remember, I have been interested in food! Through my teenage years I developed an interest in science and health, and then I started to become fascinated by the role food plays in improving our health. I am pleased to say this fascination remains, especially as new science and evidence emerges! Helping people learn how they can feel better and live healthier by making changes to their diet is an absolute passion and privilege.
One of the aspects of my job I love is getting to know my clients. I aim to understand you, your lifestyle and the problems you describe. This enables me to ensure the advice I give is relevant, realistic and more likely to be effective and sustainable. I want you to feel empowered by what we discuss, not laboured.
As a dietitian, I aim to use nutrition in both prevention and treatment of health problems related to diet. (Find out more about what a dietitian is here.) However, health is multifactorial, so during a consultation I often explore things in addition to diet; such as sleep, stress management and mood. For some people, this can mean that I recommend other services alongside myself to help improve your overall health and wellbeing.
I am flexible in my approach, as I tailor it around what you are looking for. If you have any questions, please get in touch. I hope to meet you soon.
